Monday, June 9, 2025

The final day of the Kenridge Invitational will be etched in history as a defining moment, with Michael Lee inscribing his name into the tournament’s annals with remarkable flair. Lee shattered the course record with a stunning 62 though bogeying the final 2 holes, a masterful performance that secured his victory and set a new standard of excellence at the Kenridge. His extraordinary -13 total over three rounds solidified his legacy, surpassing all previous records and leaving an indelible mark on the competition. Despite weather delays disrupting the day, Lee’s focus and skill prevailed, transforming adversity into a triumph that will resonate for years. This historic feat underscores his dominance and marks a pivotal chapter in the tournament’s storied legacy.
Lee’s supremacy was clear as he outshone a talented field on the leaderboard. VCU’s Jake Conklin finished a strong second at -6, highlighted by a consistent 64 in the final round. George Masons Vaughn McMeans and JMU’s Michael Hake tied for third at -4, with McMeans posting a solid 67 and Hake matching it with a 67 after a 69 in round two. Louisvilles Clay Pendergrass, fifth at -3, impressed with a steady 70. The group at -2 included Amani Dambrosio, Preston Burton, and Will Collins, with Dambrosio and Burton each scoring a 68, and Collins maintaining competitiveness. Channing Blevins and Talon Dingledine tied at T9 with -1, with Blevins rebounding from a 77 to a 67. Standout rounds included Conklin’s 64, Dambrosio’s and Burton’s 68s, and Blevins’ 67, reflecting high-level play on a rain-softened course that lost some of its usual challenge.
As the tournament’s standout, Lee led with 19 birdies and a single eagle, supported by 26 pars, and limited mistakes to 8 bogeys with no double bogeys or worse. His front nine on the final day was exceptional, with birdies on holes 1, 2, 4, 6, and 9, and an impressive eagle on 7, totaling an outstanding 28 and a nine-stroke lead at that point.
The success of the Kenridge Invitational owes much to the unwavering support of Farmington Country Club members, whose hospitality and enthusiasm elevated the event. The tireless efforts of volunteers, from spotters to scorekeepers, ensured smooth operations despite the weather challenges, making this a memorable championship. As the sun sets on 2025, mark your calendars for the 2026 Kenridge Invitational, scheduled for June 11-14, promising another exciting chapter in this prestigious tournament’s history.
