Michael Lee Leads by 2 After Second Round of The Kenridge Invitational
Sunday, June 8, 2025

The Kenridge Invitational’s second round unfolded Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the scenic Farmington Country Club, delivering a captivating showcase of amateur golf. Michael Lee, a Fairfax native, has committed to joining UVA for his freshman year in fall 2025, eager to cement the Lee legacy following in the footsteps of his brother Bryan, a current UVA Cavaliers standout. The Fairfax native anticipates a distinctive experience ahead, grateful for the opportunity yet mindful of the expectations tied to his brother’s legacy. Michael will caddie for Bryan at Oakmont during the U.S. Open, viewing this role as both an honor and a formidable challenge on a world-class course. Currently, he leads the tournament with a 36-hole total of -5 (135), blending a 69 and a 66 for remarkable consistency. Clay Pendergrass trails at -3 (137), while past champion Will Collins and Gavin Clutts tie for third at -2 (138). The top five includes Nick Alexander, Michael Hake, Talon Dingledine, and Vaughn McMeans, all at -1 (139), with Davis Sayman and Blake Micholas at even par (140). The third round, slated for Sunday, faces potential weather delays that could shuffle the standings.
The course at Farmington Country Club once again posed a formidable challenge for competitors. The back nine demanded exceptional accuracy and patience on the greens, testing players as they approached the stretch holes. The par-3 10th hole, notoriously dubbed by locals as “the easiest par 4 in Virginia,” lived up to its reputation for difficulty, playing 0.6 strokes over par. It yielded just 2 birdies, 42 pars, and 55 bogeys, reinforcing its challenging nature. The shortened par-4 dogleg-left 18th hole offered a dramatic finish, with 50 members and volunteers watching intently from the backdrop, sensing the tension on the slippery 18th green. A common question—whether a three-putt is acceptable—finds a resounding yes at Farmington’s 18th, reflecting its notorious test.
