Bryan Lee Captures 88th Kenridge Invitational Title

Charlottesville, Va. — Bryan Lee captured the 88th Kenridge Invitational title at Farmington Country Club in dominant fashion, capping a season that has already included a national runner-up finish and back-to-back ACC titles with Virginia.

A senior on the Virginia men's golf team, Lee enters the summer off one of the most accomplished campaigns of his career. He helped the Cavaliers win their second consecutive ACC Tournament title in April, clinching the deciding point in a 3-2 match-play win over Stanford, and was part of the UVA squad that reached the NCAA Championship match before falling to Oklahoma State — the program's deepest postseason run in its history. Lee enters the field at No. 45 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, one of three Cavaliers ranked in the WAGR top 50.

Lee set the tone early, opening the three-day, 54-hole tournament with back-to-back rounds of 68 to take sole possession of the lead heading into Championship Sunday. Despite the pressure of the final round, Lee never let the field back into contention.

"I knew that if I got off to a good start, I didn't have to force anything at the end," Lee said. "I was fortunate to kind of just make a few putts early, hit a lot of quality shots and for those putts to fall in and being able to build that cushion going into the last few holes, it was definitely huge."

Lee saved his best for last, firing a final-round 64 — the low round of the weekend — to finish at 10-under for the tournament and secure the win.

Lee's win came against one of the deeper fields in recent Kenridge history. This year's tournament drew 102 golfers, amateurs, mid-amateurs, juniors and collegiate players from 28 different schools, with nine past champions returning to the field. The Kenridge is also a World Amateur Golf Ranking event and counts toward VSGA player rankings, giving the result added weight beyond the trophy itself.

"It's absolutely the biggest tournament that we have during the year," Farmington Country Club president Karen Edwards said of the Kenridge. The event, first played in 1932, has built a track record of identifying golfers on their way up — 2013 champion Denny McCarthy has gone on to a long PGA Tour career — and this year's champion is no exception, with Lee set to tee it up at the U.S. Open within days of his Kenridge win.

Bryan Lee won't have much time to celebrate. He heads to Shinnecock Hills later this week to compete in the U.S. Open — his second consecutive appearance in the championship after qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont. He'll be one of several current and former Cavaliers in the field, joining All-American teammate Ben James, who also qualified out of Virginia's program.
